French president Sarkozy said he was opposed to Turkey’s accession to the EU and his attitude about this matter would not change.
PARIS- President of France Sarkozy, in his statements he gave to France 2 and TF 1 television channels, “Turkey does not have a place in Europe. Because it is a small Asian country” said. Sarkozy reiterated his proposal about ‘privileged partnership’ for Turkey.
Sarkozy had before wanted that, of 35 headlines to be negotiated with Turkey, the last 5 ones should be left to the very end of the negotiations and declared that France would not cause problems in other headlines.
Also, he had proposed that an independent committee composed of wise men should be established in order to be consulted during the negotiation process with Turkey.
